CIRCADIAN RHYTHM AND SLEEP DISORDERS IN SCHIZOPHRENIC PATIENTS

Abstract

The circadian rhythm is closely connected to the work of the so called circadian clock, which itself
is related to periodic repeating of certain biologic activity, summarized in the term chronobiology.
The circadian rhythm is related to the activity and the homeostasis of the organism and it’s biological
role is in synchronizing biological processes. Circadian system and circadian rhythm is still a subject of
investigation especially concerning psychic disorders. We conducted a pilot study aiming to identify
derangements in circadian rhythm and sleep in patient with schizophrenia.
